Reshaping the financial industry as a result of Basel III and other structural trends

Regulation will shape financial services over the medium term, taking up to 9% off RoE in most impacted industry segments, and altering the overall industry landscape. The new wave of regulation is highly complex, impacting most banking businesses and functional areas across geographies. We examine business and structural implications of regulation starting with an exploration of Basel III impact upon business economics and moving beyond this to consider market structure changes and disintermediation in some of the most impacted parts of the industry. Finally we consider the management challenge in reacting to the new world.
